This week’s devotionals have been about God’s perfect peace. The final one was entitled “Stand on His Promises”. Ever since I read it, I have been singing the old hymn “Standing on the Promises”. The second verse in the song goes like this:
Standing on the promises that cannot fail,When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,By the living Word of God I shall prevail,Standing on the promises of God.
I always feel so empowered when I hear and sing this hymn. I want to shout it from the tops of my lungs.
Many of my friends and family are going through rough patches. Satan continues to work over time and try to get us to buy into his lies. I’ve always believed that if Satan is working this hard, I must be doing something right and there is a blessing coming soon. I just wish my “soon” and God’s “soon” were more closely aligned. But until then, and always, I will be “Standing on the promises of God my Savior!”
But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. (Acts 20:24 NKJV)
